It’s easy to think that anyone knows how to clean a bathroom screen properly, but there are certain actions that will help keep it looking and functioning for much longer. The bathroom screen is a product that requires simple but constant and effective maintenance, to ensure its durability and correct operation over the years. Lime, mold, soap residues and other products are the main attack agents of the components of the bathroom screen.
Therefore, when choosing a glass shower screen, it is important to pay attention to whether or not an effective anti-scale treatment has been
applied to the glass. In our case, all GME screens have already applied the EnduroShield® anti-scale treatment, which covers the porous areas of the glass to prevent the accumulation of lime and soapy residues that damage the material. In coastal areas, the importance of anti-scale treatment becomes more important, since the water in these areas presents greater amounts of lime. It is important to remember that, despite the fact that a screen has an anti-scale treatment applied, cleaning is still just as important. The treatment will make cleaning easier and reduce the build-up of limescale, but it will never act as a substitute for cleaning and maintenance.
Another factor to take into account is the amount of humidity that accumulates in the bathroom, since this makes it more prone to the appearance of mold. Mold is a fungus that usually appears in humid areas with low light, which can be dangerous to health. Therefore, it is very important to keep all elements of the bathroom clean, including the screen. Leave the bathroom door or window open to allow moisture to drain after each shower.
GLASS SCREENS
When talking about how to clean a bathroom screen made of glass, it is important to take into accou
nt the materials. Currently, the vast majority of partitions are made up of two elements: tempered glass and metal accessories, which can be made of stainless steel or aluminum.
First, let’s look at the crystals. The glass cleaning spatula is one of the most useful cleaning objects to keep the glass in good condition and good appearance. Removing the drops adhering to the glass after the shower will go a long way in keeping the glass intact over time. It is also important to avoid the use of abrasive products and utensils that can scratch the surface of the glass. When you buy cleaning products, make sure they are suitable for your screen.
Many of our shower enclosure models include a leaf release button to facilitate cleaning of both the glass and the lower guide and rain gutter.
One of the most used tricks to clean the screen and leave it sparkling is the mixture of water (50%) and white vinegar (50%). With this mixture, we simply have to soak a sponge and rub the surface of the glass with circular movements, avoiding contact with the profiles. We will rinse with water and finally we must dry the crystals well, the screen will be shiny. If the screen is silk-screened, be careful not to clean the decorated area with any acid product as we can damage it irreparably. For routine cleaning, just use mild soap and water.
PLASTIC SCREENS
If your shower screen is made of plastic you will know how difficult it is to keep it shiny. Plastic gets dirty faster than tempered glass so we should clean it at least once a week. We recommend doing it with the following mixture: we will mix in a sprayer a little ammonia, alcohol and water. Wear gloves and a mask when applying it to avoid any kind of reaction. Spray the surface and the rails. Then wipe it with a damp cloth.
